Cut Copy – Lights and Music (Boys Noize Happy Birthday Remix)
Yes…Phantom is two years old this weekend…and so is the Album Archive! So I’m going to celebrate on Sunday night with a selection of the best live tracks, b-sides, interviews and demo recordings we’ve dug up from the last 24 months! We’ve had some great shows and looked at some stunning albums!
If you have any highlights please let me know and I’ll try and squeeze something in just for you!
So tune in this Sunday at midnight…and you might just hear the first time Billy Corgan sang ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’ on tape, one of the greatest live recordings of ‘Born To Run’….ever, or media coverage of the LA riots…sparked by Depeche Mode! Brilliant!

You may remember this from last October. Well it’s that time again and Phantom have been nominated for 4 awards this year….and guess what, The Album Archive is up for one of them!! Myself and John Caddell are nominated for our U2 Joshua Tree Special under the category Music Special.
Over. The. Moon.
Phantom also picked up nominations for New Irish Music with Icon, Documentary for Fiona Scally’s wonderful ‘Last Rewind’, and Station Imaging! Great news for everyone in Phantom…so fingers crossed for October 10th down in Kilkenny! But there’s more…
Now, on October 11th is the annual Irish Web Awards, and I’ve just learnt that this blog is longlisted for an award there too! Best Music Site sponsored by UMusic.ie! This is turning into a crazy week! October could be worse I think!

New music fans will be interested to hear that Jim Carroll is moving from his Saturday night slot to Thursday at 8pm to start presenting The Producers on Phantom 105.2. The Producers, previously presented by Richie McCormack and Emma Mehan (I even sat in a few times), is our new international music show and an ideal home for Jim if you’re familiar with his previous slot on Phantom.
Saturday nights is generally my only free night which resulted in me missing him most weeks but now we can all catch up with what Phantoms’ most proud of, giving you the best in new music first, with The Producers new host.
The Producers, Thursday at 8pm on Phantom 105.2
